"Initially, I have been training on my own for 2 years and plan to compete in bodybuilding contests. However,
my body was not in a good shape at all then. As the days passed, the goal towards to competing became
dimmer. The reason was my body was not responding to the training and dieting programs that I learnt from
bodybuilding sites and books and subsequently falls into a plateau state (state where body does not
respond to muscle growth).
Later on, I got to know Shah, the gym instructor in the Ngee Ann Polytechnic
Gymwerkz. Being a friendly person, he came forward and corrected my training techniques when I am
working out. I took his advice and began to see better control on weights and muscle growth became visible.
Thus, I continue to tell him about the goal that I have set and hope that he will help me to realize. I thank
him that he is willing to teach and prepare me for the contests (National Juniors 2008, Muscle and Fitness War
2009, Muscle Explosion 2009).
Through his professionalism and experiences in bodybuilding, I began to see
a lot of changes in my body; becoming more muscular and losing fats constantly. All this owed to his training and
dieting programs he implemented for me. He also gave me much information on bodybuilding which cannot be
found from elsewhere. One of the essential tips that he gave me will be not taking the weights that I can’t do in
correct form at all. This is important because incorrect form executed during workouts results in injuries. "

"It’s been awhile I didn’t hit the gym as I am too busy with my schoolwork and commitments. Bodybuilding is
my hobby but it’s just hard for me to manage, then second semester of my school starts I got quite a lot of free
time, so I went to the gym in my school NP GymWerkz. I was shocked when I saw my friend PT Shah working
there. After more then 8 months I didn’t train, I look at him and I get super motivated. He’s great to be a gym
buddy n trainer/coach. All this while he’s the one training me, planning my diet and stuffs. He’s more like a
brother than a Coach to me. In 6 months, I’ve seen changes to my body. I was like 118kg at first before I start
my training in July 2008. When I started training, he helped me to set my target, what should I aim first and
everything. Thanks to him I get in shape back in Jan 2009 and my weight was 83kg."

"When I first entered Ngee Ann I weighed in at 114kg, before that I was 117kg but due to the realisation that I was
entering poly I tried to lose weight to look better but after a couple months, I only managed to lose 3kg. When I entered poly
I had to choose a sport for my module called S&W. I heard that Wellness program was a program that would help
teach you the basics of working out and dieting, so I decided to give it a try. I remember the first few lessons of S&W,
the gym instructor Shah teaching us how to use the equipment and all that. Slowly he started to encourage me to work out more,
and told me that I should reach his weight which was 88kg at that time. At that time I thought to myself whether he is
crazy how was I suppose to reach that weight. I started to go to the gym more often due to his motivation and encouragement.
One month after I started hitting the gym, he told me that I had lost weight, and when I went to weigh myself I was shocked
to see that I had lost 4kg and was 110kg. This gave me a lot of motivation to work harder. As time went by he taught me how
to diet properly, what should I do for cardio and also how to do weights properly so that I can grow. Until today he
constantly checks with me what is my weight, and gives me congratulations for losing so much weight. I now currently
weigh 87kg and have lost a total of 30kg, mainly because I had the encouragement and guidance from Shah. Shah has
become more of a friend to me then a gym instructor, so I would recommend to anyone looking for a fitness instructor
whether to lose weight or to have a better body and to know more about nutrition, Shah is the best one I know. "
